Net worth by income

Table 2 of the 2022 SCF bulletin reports median and mean family net worth by percentile of usual income, in 2022 dollars. The bottom quintile’s median is $14,000. The top decile’s median is $2,556,200. The mean is much higher than the median in every band. July 2026 dollars on this page are that table scaled by CPI-U, not a new survey.

How this differs from net worth by age

These rows are all families in an income band, not an age band. Usual income is the SCF concept, not last year’s wages alone. The mean is published here because Table 2 prints it. The age ladders elsewhere omit a mean because that extract did not include one.

The July 2026 column multiplies the 2022 figure by the same CPI-U factor used on the age pages (2022 annual average 292.655 to July 2026 333.918). It is a price adjustment. Saving and markets since 2022 are not in it.
